Team Compositions | Constellation Guide |
Hu Tao has always been known as one of the best DPS in Genshin Impact, but if one were to think about it, she’s actually not that powerful if she’s alone. Without the assistance of Xingqiu to endlessly enable Vaporize for her, Hu Tao’s damage would’ve been mediocre.
This shows how important a good team comp is in Genshin Impact. For Hu Tao team composition, the following line-ups are among the most popular, and for a great reason, too.
Hu Tao + Xingqiu/Yelan + Zhongli + Albedo
Hu Tao and Xingqiu are an inseparable pair; Director Hu won’t be as powerful without her trusted Hydro companion. In this Hu Tao team comp in Genshin Impact, Zhongli and Albedo will activate Geo Resonance and grant a 15% DMG boost for the team, on top of Albedo’s great sub-DPS and Zhongli’s shielding.

- Albedo: Sub-DPS, buffer (4-Tenacity of the Millelith or 4-Noblesse Oblige)
Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Yelan + Zhongli
Yelan may be viable as a replacement for Xingqiu, but that doesn’t mean players can’t use both of them at once. Both Xingqiu and Yelan deal great damage and ensure Hu Tao will always Vaporize her hits. Bringing two Hydro will also activate the Hydro Resonance, which increases the team’s HP. This is beneficial to everyone on the team, even Xingqiu (for his minor healing). Meanwhile, Zhongli will be the solo Geo this time.

Hu Tao + Xingqiu/Yelan + Thoma + Kazuha
It has always been quite a shame that Kazuha can’t work with Hu Tao, but thanks to Thoma, the two can now play together. Thoma will also grant protection, replacing the role Zhongli usually takes. Although of course, Thoma’s shield is far weaker than Zhongli’s. Additionally, while Thoma has a poor Pyro application, there may still be some instances where he (or Kazuha) messes up Hu Tao’s Vaporize, so make sure to keep that in mind.

Hu Tao + Xingqiu/Yelan + Kazuha + Ganyu
Hu Tao is always famed for her Vaporize team comp, but it’s also possible to play her in a Melt team. With the assistance of Cryo characters’ decent AoE like Ganyu or Rosaria and Kazuha’s large Cryo Swirl, players can play Vaporize, Melt, and Frozen at the same time.
