Every 5-star character in Genshin Impact has their own signature weapon, and Hu Tao is no different. As a DPS that scales with HP, she has an easier time when picking her Polearm, as she works just fine with weapons that have low base ATK. Hu Tao also does well with the Elemental Mastery sub-stat as it increases her Vaporize damage, the core reaction she’ll be doing with Xingqiu and/or Yelan.

If players want to know Hu Tao weapon tier list and ranking in Genshin Impact, here’s a quick overview of all the viable Polearms for her.

1/9 Staff of Homa

Base ATK 608
Sub-Stat 66.2% Crit DMG
Passive HP increased by 20%. Additionally, provides an ATK Bonus based on 0.8% of the wielder’s Max HP. When the wielder’s HP is less than 50%, this ATK bonus is increased by an additional 1% of Max HP.

The best-in-slot option for Hu Tao is easily the Staff of Homa, making it an S tier for her. Since Hu Tao would often be at low HP, players should be able to trigger its second passive effortlessly, where the ATK bonus increases from 0.8% of HP to 1%.

2/9 Staff of the Scarlet Sands

Base ATK 542
Sub-Stat 44.1% Crit Rate
Passive The equipping character gains 52% of their Elemental Mastery as bonus ATK. When an Elemental Skill hits opponents, the Dream of the Scarlet Sands effect will be gained for 10s: The equipping character will gain 28% of their Elemental Mastery as a bonus ATK. Max 3 stacks.

Considering Hu Tao has to be played with Vaporize, Staff of the Scarlet Sands becomes a great contender for her best weapon in Genshin Impact, earning itself the A+ tier. Note that Blood Blossom damage applied to enemies will be considered Elemental Skill damage, so Hu Tao can easily activate all of the weapon’s passive.

3/9 Dragon’s Bane

Base ATK 454
Sub-Stat 221 Elemental Mastery
R5 Passive Increases DMG against opponents affected by Hydro or Pyro by 36%.

Dragon’s Bane is a gacha equipment, but if players are lucky enough to maximize its refinement, then it’s one of the best options for Hu Tao weapon, placing the A+ tier with Staff of Scarlet Sands. Like the Scarlet Sands, Dragon’s Bane is also heavily inclined to increase Hu Tao’s reaction damage.

Just note that Dragon’s Bane at R1 to R3 is only an A tier, so try to maximize its refinement if players choose this Polearm for their Hu Tao.

4/9 Deathmatch

Base ATK 454
Sub-Stat 36.8% Crit Rate
R5 Passive If there are at least 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 16% and DEF is increased by 16%. If there are fewer than 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 24%.

Deathmatch is a Battle Pass weapon that works nicely with Hu Tao. It’s one of the best Polearms in general, and for Director Hu, it places in the A tier.

5/9 Primordial Jade Winged-Spear

Base ATK 674
Sub-Stat 22.1% Crit Rate
Passive On hit, increases ATK by 3.2% for 6s. Max 7 stacks. This effect can only occur once every 0.3s. While in possession of the maximum possible stacks, DMG dealt is increased by 12%.

At full-stack, Primordial Jade Winged-Spear is an amazing weapon for Hu Tao. However, considering she’d be swapped out once her Skill ended, the Funeral Parlor Director has to continuously rebuild the Spear’s stack. This makes PJWS an A tier weapon for Hu Tao, instead of S.

6/9 Blackcliff Pole

Base ATK 510
Sub-Stat 55.1% Crit DMG
R5 Passive After defeating an opponent, ATK is increased by 24% for 30s. This effect has a maximum of 3 stacks, and the duration of each stack is independent of the others.

Blackcliff Pole is quite situational, so it’s often overlooked for Hu Tao. If players can continuously maintain a full-stack, Blackcliff Pole would stand in the A tier, but since it’s hard to do so, this Polearm has to settle with the B tier.

7/9 Lithic Spear

Base ATK 565
Sub-Stat 27.6% ATK
R5 Passive For every character in the party who hails from Liyue, the character who equips this weapon gains 11% ATK increase and a 7% CRIT Rate increase. This effect stacks up to 4 times.

Lithic Spear is really niche considering players have to play with Liyue characters to use its passive, but fortunately, Hu Tao hails from Liyue herself. Since it’s possible to play in a full-Liyue team with Xingqiu, Yelan, and Zhongli, getting 4 stacks of Lithic Spear is not that hard. At full stack, Lithic Spear would be in the A- tier, but at 2 stacks, it’s merely equivalent to B tier options.

8/9 Missive Windspear

Base ATK 510
Sub-Stat 41.3% ATK
R5 Passive Within 10s after an Elemental Reaction is triggered, ATK is increased by 24% and Elemental Mastery is increased by 96.

Missive Windspear is an event-limited Polearm that works decently on Hu Tao thanks to its Elemental Mastery boost. Since Hu Tao has a low base ATK, the ATK buff won’t be highly useful on her, but it’s still a decent addition nevertheless. This B tier equipment is viable for new players who haven’t gotten the chance to obtain better options.

9/9 White Tassel

Base ATK 401
Sub-Stat 23.4% Crit Rate
R5 Passive Increases Normal Attack DMG by 48%.

The last viable option for Hu Tao best weapon in Genshin Impact is the White Tassel. This 3-star Polearm can easily be obtained and has a decent Crit Rate sub-stat. Considering Charged Attack always starts with a Normal Attack, Hu Tao can also benefit from White Tassel’s passive. Although, of course, this Polearm can only place at the B- tier.
